Mr. Billy D. Porter, 84, a longtime resident of Bogue Chitto, died at his home Dec. 4, 2012. He was born in Lincoln County on June 19, 1928 to the late Barney N. Porter and Katie Lofton Porter.
Mr. Porter was a retired pipefitter having worked 38 years with International Paper Co. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Bogue Chitto and was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul Porter and Lynwood Porter; two sisters, Pearl Ford and Raybelle Lofton.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Aline Avants Porter; two sons, Dirk Porter and Tony Porter and his wife Annie; two daughters, Mona Lisa Fauver and husband Robert & Greta Richardson and husband Kevin, all of Bogue Chitto, MS; six grandchildren, Lee Porter & wife Kelly; Will Fauver; Marley Porter and husband Dustin; Josie Claire Porter; Melissa Wallace and Lacie Gennero. Also survived by three great-grandchildren, Isabella Porter, Ava Kate Porter and Stella Beth Porter; one brother, Pat Porter and wife Eloyce of Brookhaven; three sisters, Geneva Bardwell of Brookhaven, Ellen Summers of Natchez, MS and Joann Worrell and husband Clyde of Baker, LA.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 from 5 pm until 9 pm at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel, 894 Natchez Drive, Brookhaven. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery, Bogue Chitto.
