Funeral services for Mrs. Winnie Williams Smith will be on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at First Baptist Church (200 East Monticello Street) in Brookhaven, MS at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Brookhaven. Rev. Greg Warnock will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will also be at First Baptist Church on the same day from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Mrs. Smith, 93, of Brookhaven, MS passed from this life on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Diversicare Nursing Home in Brookhaven, MS with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 12, 1924 in Fair Oak Springs, MS to G. D. and Mildred Sandifer Williams. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. For many years Mrs. Smith ran the Christmas Toy Shop above the downtown Sunflower Food Store.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband of 69 years, Millard E. Smith; and brothers, George, Jesse Calvin and Jerry Williams.
Survivors are her sons, Dr. Millard Bedford Smith and wife Sarah of Beaufort, NC and Edward Dee "Dee Dee" Smith and wife Donna of Brookhaven, MS; grandchildren, Dienna Moak and husband Pete, Heather Smith and husband Jason, and Meagan Turpin; great grandchildren, McKenzi Turpin, Anna Katelyn Smith, Will Moak, Anderson Turpin, Maley Moak, Jacob Smith, Morgan Moak, Jonah Smith, Walker Moak, Jackson Smith and Marshall Davis; and a host of family and friends.
The family wishes to think the staffs of Peachtree Village in Brandon, MS, Diversicare of Brookhaven, MS and Hospice Ministries of Brookhaven, MS for their kind and loving care.
