Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. William Clyde "Sonny" Coker, Jr. will be on Monday, July 16, 2018, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven, MS at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the Riverwood Family Cemetery in Brookhaven, MS. Bro. Randy Coker and Bro. Phil Turner will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will also be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on the same day from 9:00 AM until time of the service at 11:00 AM.

Mr. Coker, 84, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at his residence. He was born on December 7, 1933, in Brookhaven, MS to William Clyde Coker, Sr. and Inez Louise Furr Coker. He was a dairy farmer for many years, as well as a sanitarian/environmentalist with the Lincoln County Health Department. Mr. Coker enjoyed farming and spending time with his family. He was a deacon emeritus at Easthaven Baptist Church in Brookhaven, MS, and was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife of 51 years, Ivolene Naomi Lea Coker; and sisters, Margie Coker Lea, Ann Coker Harris, and Barbara Kaye Coker.

Survivors are his daughters, Vickie Coker Goza and husband Kenny and Cathy Coker Norton and husband Robert, both of Brookhaven, MS; son, Randall Clyde Coker and wife Sherry of Brookhaven, MS; grandchildren, Gabe Goza and wife Carey of Brandon, MS, Ben Goza and wife Kim of Brookhaven, MS, Joey Norton and wife Sara of Brookhaven, MS, Sonny Norton and wife Beth of New Albany, MS, Molly Coker and husband Nick of Summit, MS; great grandchildren, Kendall, Brielle, Lleyton, Beckett, Lynley, and Graham Goza, Toby and Samuel Norton, and Savannah and Cameron Coker; sisters, Doris Coker Lea and husband Roland, Iris Rudman Smith and husband Cotton, and Carolyn Coker Wilson and husband Wayne, all of Brookhaven, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all those who faithfully assisted in the constant care of Mr. Coker in the latter months of his life. This list includes among others: Doris Diffrient, Kathy Smith, Darlene Crawford, Marcy Crawford, and Hospice Ministries.
