Vernie Watts Walker's Obituary
Mrs. Walker, 93, passed from this life on Sunday, September 19, 2016, at Brook Manor Nursing Home in Brookhaven, MS. She was born on May 10, 1923, in the Zetus Commumity of Brookhaven, MS, to George Washington (Wash) and Ada Smith Watts. She was a homemaker and was retired from The Potter Company in Wesson, MS. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She loved working in her yard, cooking and her church family. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Preceding her in death were her parents, George Washington (Wash) and Ada Smith Watts; husband, Enoch Walker; grandson, Evan Wayne Walker; sister, Selma Britt; and niece, Linda Fairchild.
Survivors are her son, Gary Walker and wife Pam of Brookhaven, MS; grandsons, Corey, Zack and Josh; nephew, Kelly Britt; and a host of cousins and friends.
Pallbearers are Jerry Freeman, Seth Allen, Wayne Foster, Randall Lofton, Kelly Britt and Anthony Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Walker's name may be made to: Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ray Montalvo, and the staffs of Brook Manor Nursing Home and Hospice Ministries.
