Tadlock
January 14, 1922 – September 10, 2018
Funeral services for Mr. Travis J. Tadlock will be at First Baptist Church of Brookhaven on Thursday, September 13, 2018, MS at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the Providence Lutheran Church Cemetery in Burns, MS, at 3:00 PM. Bro. Greg Warnock will be officiating the services. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Brookhaven on Thursday, September 13, 2018, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
Mr. Travis, 96, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Monday, September 10, 2018, at The Aspen Assisted Living. He was born on January 14, 1922 in Lorena, MS, to O.T. and Maebell Tadlock. Mr. Travis was a believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, raising his family in Christian values and beliefs. He loved the body of Christ and ministered to others as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and served on various committees of First Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking. In his later years Mr. Travis discovered painting with acrylics.
Mr. Travis served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Pharmacy Mate, First Class during WWII. He received his BS and Master's Degree in Agronomy from Mississippi State University. Mr. Tadlock served as the Lincoln County Cooperative Extension County Agent, was a founding member of the Lincoln County Livestock Association, former President of the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce, a Lincoln County Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioner, AVIS tree farmer and also served with the Pearl River Valley Water Development District.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Melba Caughman Tadlock; his son, James Michael Tadlock; his sister, Willoudean Tadlock Young; and his brother, Willie G. Tadlock.
Survivors are his brother, James A. Tadlock and wife Mignonne of Perkins, OK; his sons, Sidney L. Tadlock and wife Patty of Brookhaven, and Tommy G. Tadlock and wife Felicia of Brookhaven; daughter, Susan Tadlock Williams and partner Paul Knight of Walla Walla, Washington; grandchildren, Michael Tadlock and wife Courtney, Rob Tadlock and wife Annaclaire, Stacie T. Yount and husband Bart, Kelly T. Brown and husband Todd, and Anna T. Buys and husband Stephen; great grandchildren, Ben Chandler, Tucker Brown, Ansley Brown, Owen Yount, Sydney Yount, Silas Buys, and Emmie Grace Tadlock (arriving in October); and a host of family and friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of The Aspen Assisted Living of Brookhaven for their loving care shown to Dad. They would also like to thank the staffs of the Beehive of Brookhaven and the Blake of Flowood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mr. Tadlock's name may be made to: First Baptist, Brookhaven's Building Fund.
