Mr. Eakes, 78, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born on October 10, 1938 in Neshoba County, MS, to Grady Eakes and Nellie McAdory Eakes. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Mr. Eakes was a heavy duty truck dealer and the owner/operator of Trucks, Inc. in Jackson, MS. After that he owned Kenworth of Jackson and Tom Mac's Food Store on Terry Road. He was a charter member of the Brookhaven Farmer's Market. Mr. Eakes was an avid outdoorsman and loved his grandchildren dearly. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Grady and Nellie Eakes; brother, Mike Eakes; sister Patsy Barrie; brother-in-law Shelby Smith; and great nephew Campbell Dale.
Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Christine Smith Eakes of Brookhaven; son, Jeffrey Thomas Eakes and wife Hope of Florence, MS; daughter Tammie Eakes Stegall and husband Randy of Brookhaven, MS; grandchildren, Natalie Christine Eakes, Thomas Kevin (T.K.) Patterson, Pollyanna Patterson, Christie Rose Patterson and Jeffrey Thomas Eakes, Jr.; brother Marzine Eakes and wife Amanda of Jackson; sister Sandra Meacham and husband Ken of Ridgeland, MS; sisters-in-law Linda Eakes and Dorothy Smith; brother-in-law Keith Barrie; and a host of family and friends.
