Obituary

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Steve E. Magee, Sr. will be on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at McCall Creek Church of God Cemetery in McCall Creek, MS, at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in the same cemetery. Bro. Travis Touchstone will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Magee, 90, of Brandon, MS, passed from this life on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS.  He was born on August 28, 1930, in McCall Creek, MS, to Stevie and Josie Smith Magee. He was a member of McCall Creek Church of God in McCall Creek, MS; worked for many years as a retail store manager; served as an alderman in Pearl, MS, and after retiring, moved back to McCall Creek to be near family and friends. He enjoyed camping, traveling, and gospel singing, as well as a good game of dominoes. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Gary L. Magee; brothers, David Magee and James O. Magee; sister, Pauline Jackson; and brother-in-law, Roy Gene Lofton.

His wife, Helen Elaine Lofton Magee, died hours after him; and he is survived by his sons, Steve Magee, Jr. and wife Janet of Brandon, MS and Larry E. Magee and wife Cathy of Rowlette, TX; daughter-in-law, Nancy Magee; brother, Charles Bart Magee; sisters, Vonceil Smith and Elaine Arnold; grandchildren, Edward Magee, Michael Magee, and Paige Smith; and 6 great-grandchildren.
