Obituary

Mrs. Shelby Gene Rosero, 87, of Brookhaven, MS passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. She was born September 15, 1938, in Prentiss, MS to Shelby Gene Butler and Beulah Belle Higgins Butler.

The family will receive visitors at Brookhaven Funeral Home in Brookhaven, MS from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Funeral services will be held at Brookhaven Funeral Home at 2:00 PM, with graveside services following in Phalti Baptist Church in Jefferson Davis County, MS.

Mrs. Rosero enjoyed gardening, shopping, the Prayer Luncheons on Wednesdays at First Baptist Church in Brookhaven, MS, and working her word search puzzles. She loved spending time with family and friends and her church family. She also loved her cat, Frisky.

She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rosero was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jose Rosero; sisters Willa Bea Brown, Dorothy Roberts, and Catherine Brown.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Alicia Baudean (George), Monica Galloway (Patrick), and Joseph Rosero; grandchildren, Thomas McConnell (Paola), Todd McConnell (Julie), and Shelley Baudean Franz (Kenny); great-grandchildren, Henry, Mia, Fiona, Eliza, Eva, Lila Jean, and Amelia. In addition to her brother Charles Butler (Betty) and a host of nieces and nephews and other family members.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the entire staff at Hospice Compassus for their loving and kind service to their Mother, Bro. Greg Warnock for his many thoughtful visits to see and have prayer with Mrs. Shelby, and all her special friends at First Baptist Church, including Charlie Seale and his wife Carol Lee Seale, for their friendship and kindness.
