Obituary

Shana Marie Westbrook Decker Arner, 48, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021, at her home in Montgomery, Alabama from complications related to cancer. She was born June 12, 1973 in Starkville, Mississippi. She was a graduate of Sparkman High School in Madison County, Alabama.  She graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Mississippi State University and attended on a band scholarship. She was a registered Professional Engineer and worked as a chemical engineer in Mississippi and in Alabama for 25 years.  Shana was a gifted flute player all through high school and college.   She was in the band and the Huntsville Youth Orchestra in Huntsville, Alabama.  She loved the outdoors and had many travel and camping adventures in her life.  Her favorite place was "the Creek" which is located on family land in Mississippi.  Shana was a tremendous giving and loving person who was fulfilled by her family.  Shana could best be described as a mother, daughter, sister and wife.  Shana had a great sense of humor and the ability to make everyone around her feel special.  Shana was a gifted engineer and admired by all who had the privilege of working with her.  Shana was a dance mom to her daughters and many girls at Southern Dance Arts in Alabaster Alabama.

She is survived by her parents Stephen Joel Westbrook of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Patricia White Westbrook Lindow of Madison, Alabama.  She is also survived by her two daughters, Sydney Lauren Decker and Allyson Michelle Decker of Alabaster, Alabama, her husband, Daniel Arner of Montgomery, Alabama, her sisters Stacy Amanda Westbrook Pessoney and husband Dave Pessoney of Madison, Alabama,  Pamela Gail Westbrook Cofer and husband Matt Cofer of Conroe, Texas, her nephews Ted David Pessoney, Barrett Scott Pessoney, Eli Scott Cofer, Harlan Conlee Cofer, and Trent Alan Decker and her niece Kristen Renee Decker, her step children Zachary William Arner, Nathaniel David Arner and Jacob Daniel Arner.

Shana is preceded in death by her brother Scott Stephen Westbrook, who lived in Madison, Alabama, her paternal grandparents, Joel and Eleanor Westbrook of Meadville, Mississippi and maternal grandparents, Anna and Billy White, great grandmother Odessa Cannon of Tupelo, Mississippi, and great grandmother Neva Lee Humphries of Jayess, Mississippi.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Southern Memorial Funeral Home located at 3154 Highland Avenue, Montgomery, Alabama with a service at 3:00 pm.  Following the service, Shana will travel to Union Primitive Baptist Church in Ruth Mississippi to her final resting place near the people who impacted her life.
