Obituary

Funeral services for Sarah Lou Wright Whittington will be on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Highland Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, MS at 2:30 PM with burial to follow in the Crystal Spring City Cemetery in Crystal Springs, MS. Bro. Van Windom, Bro. Jimmy Bryant and Bro. David Patterson will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Highland Baptist Church on Saturday, September 17, 2016, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Sunday, September 18, 2016, from 1:00 until 2:30 PM.

Mrs. Whittington, 89, passed from this life on Friday, September 16, 2016, at the Copiah Living Center in Crystal Springs, MS. She was born on October 22, 1926, in Crystal Springs, MS, to Floyd B. and Lula Bell Stone Wright. She was a charter member of Highland Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, MS. She worked for many years as a Quality Control Specialist at Crystal Springs Shirt Factory and then worked for over 35 years in childcare, where the children called her "Granny Whit". She enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing and spending time with her family. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Floyd B. and Lula Bell Stone Wright; husband, Roy Whittington; son, William Floyd Whittington; brother, Barnett J. Wright; and grandson, Preston Carlock.

Survivors are her sons, Kenneth Whittington and wife Doris, James Whittington and wife Pam, and Gerald Whittington and wife Pam all of Crystal Springs, MS; daughter-in-law, Rachel Ann Whittington of Crystal Springs, MS; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, family and friends.
Pallbearers are Jason Whittington, Brad Whittington, Justin Whittington, Andrew Presson, Barrett Whittington, Matthew Whittington, Chris Barrett and Josh McNair. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Merritt, Bruce Knight, Jared Whittington, Cameron Carlock, Trey Bass, Blake Whittington, Tristin Knight, Braydon McNair and Dallas Barrett.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Preston McDonnell, and the staffs of Copiah Living Center and PAX Hospice.
