Sara Helen
Wade Byrne
March 2, 1933 – February 28, 2025
Ms. Sara Helen Wade Byrne, 91, of Brookhaven, Mississippi crossed over to her new home on February 28, 2025. She for sure is rejoicing with her family and friends that have gone on before her. Sara Helen was born in on March 2, 1933 in Deemer, Mississippi (Neshoba County) to her parents – the best in the world – Lawrence Rollins Wade and Jessie Agent Wade.
Sara often talked about the wonderful times share with her parents; many ballgames with Daddy and many times watching Momma cook and sew for her family. She graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1951 and became a licensed Registered Nurse after graduating from the Gilfoy School of Nursing at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS in 1954. After 39 years of dedicated service to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, working as Staffing Coordinator for Nursing Service, she retired at the young age of 81. She enjoyed many happy times with her coworkers over those years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother, Lawrence Rudolph Wade.
Sara Helen is survived by the loves of her life; her daughter, Debbie Byrne Shaughnessy (John) and son, Caby Edward "Ed" Byrne III. They blessed her with four grandchildren; Jessica Carrie Fabre (Ben), Dr. John E. Shaughnessy III (Morgan), Chad Rollins Byrne (Inez), and Joshua Wade Byrne; four great-grandchildren, Madison Leigh Byrne, Elizabeth Claire Byrne, Elizabeth Clare Shaughnessy, and John Nelson Shaughnessy. She also leaves behind her "favorite niece," Laura Renee Wade Bridges.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the John Ogden Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church Brookhaven, PO Box 589, Brookhaven, MS, 39602.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the third floor staff of Kings Daughters Hospital and to her dear friend, Pat Smith.
