Ronda Johnetha Downs was born to Senoria and John Glenn Sr. on August 21st, 1954, in Gary, Indiana. She accepted Christ at an early age and again later in life at living Way Christian Center. Ronda graduated from Roosevelt High School class of 1973. Ronda was employed for years as a Qualified Medical Assistant with her last place of employment before retirement being Washington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Ronda was received home into the open arms of her Savior while surrounded by her loving family in her home on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026.
Ronda was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was affectionately known as “Glenn”, “Sista Soulja”, and in later years “lil lady”. She was a kind generous woman who would help anyone in need even when she didn’t have it to give, she always made a way. She was always larger than life, never held her tongue for anyone, and everyone loved her for just being her.
Ronda was preceded in death by her father, John Glenn Sr.; mother, Senoria Glenn; daughter, Rondetta Downs; brothers Russell Glenn and John Glenn Jr.; brother-in-law, George Lewis; sister-in-law, Diane Glenn; husband, Arthur Downs; special friend, Edward Pointer, and lifelong best friend Sylvia Carter.
She leaves behind to cherish every beautiful memory: daughter, Arvetta Downs; God- daughters, Alrita McClinon and Tara Hudson; grandchildren, LaPashia (Montrel) Rushing, Myesha Downs, Lonnie Swope, Quinn Parker, LaWaune Swope, JaVonye Downs, and JaVetta Rogers; great-grandchildren, Mariah Rushing, Montrel Rushing, Jr., My’Shawn Dawson, Montre’ Rushing, Messiah Rushing, Aria Downs, Malachi Rushing, Jayde Downs, Montae Rushing; sisters, Raponia Dent, Regina (Lester) McKinley, Rolanda (George) Lewis, Rozella (Orman) Crenshaw; brothers, Raymond Glenn, Reginald (Monica) Glenn, Rexsell (Sharon) Glenn, Donnell Ernie Glenn; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Ronda will be greatly missed by all who have ever came into contact with her loving spirit.
Graveside services will be held at Downs Family Cemetery in Brookhaven, MS at 3:00 PM Friday.
