Obituary

In Loving Memory of Richard Hiram Smith
May 31, 1960 – October 9, 2025

Richard Hiram "Cuzz" Smith passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at the age of 65 at his home in Scott, La. Born in Brookhaven, Mississippi, and a longtime resident of Scott, Louisiana, Ricky lived a life built on love, loyalty, and quiet strength.

A proud United States Marine Corps veteran , Ricky served his country with honor as a Lance Corporal . He carried the Marine Corps values of honor, courage, and commitment into every part of his life. For 35 years, he worked with dedication and pride at Cavins, earning the respect and friendship of everyone around him.

When he wasn't working, Ricky could often be found on the open road, riding with his brothers in the Skulls & Culls M.C. Those who rode beside him knew the deep bond of friendship, freedom, and loyalty that he treasured.

Ricky was known not only for his hard work and steady presence but also for his humor. He was a jokester at heart who loved pulling a good prank and could make anyone laugh when they needed it most. Beneath his tough Marine spirit was a big heart — full of love, laughter, and mischief that brightened every room he walked into.

Above all, Ricky was a devoted family man. He was the rock his loved ones could always count on — strong, loyal, and full of heart. He leaves behind his son, Ricky Smith , and his wife Veronica Chacon Smith , along with their children Sofia and Mason Smith ; his daughter, Kayla Smith, and her husband Keith , along with their children Braiden, Bentley, Brennan, Briggs, Hayden and Blakelyn ; and his sister, Barbara . He is also survived by his nephew Kenneth "Toot" Farve Jr., his niece Mindy Farve, and a host of cousins who loved him dearly. His love for them was constant and unconditional, and his memory will live on through their laughter, strength, and stories.

Ricky was preceded in death by his loving parents, Herman "Pee Wee" Smith and Beth Smith .

Ricky's life will be celebrated with a visitation at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Sunday, October 12, 2025 from 5 PM until 8 PM , and funeral services on Monday, October 13, 2025 at 11 AM at the funeral home. Graveside services will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

He will be remembered for his strength, his humor, his loyalty, and his heart. Though he has ridden his final road, his spirit will live on in the stories, the laughter, and the love he left behind.
