A life that spanned over a century came to an end when Mrs. Pearlie Delaughter Crane, Age 103, passed away on March 27, 2016.
Born on January 1, 1913, she was the seventh of fourteen children born to F. H. Delaughter and Dixie King Delaughter, all who preceded her in death. In April of 1931 she married Oscar Crane who passed away in January of 1986.
They were lifelong residents of the East Lincoln and Fair River communities. Mrs. Crane loved the Lord and her church and taught Sunday school for many years at Bethel Temple United Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Crane was a long time member of Brookhaven First Assembly of God and enjoyed her church family very much. She will be remembered by her family for her determination, humor and wit, and her memory, which was exceptional until her late nineties.
In addition to her parents, siblings and husband, Mrs. Crane was preceded in death by one daughter, an infant son, and three grandsons.
She is survived by her son, Oscar L. Crane (Patricia), and daughters, Iva P. Rutland (Louie) and Evelyn Hanks (Chester), and five grandchildren; Alison Crane (Jennifer), Nelson Crane (Denice), Marty Rutland (Lana), Shane Hanks (Gina), and Lisa Hanks Fokakis (Johnny). She is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren and twenty one great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to her as Aunt Pearlie.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Brookhaven Funeral Home, Natchez Drive, with interment in Fair River Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until time of service. Rev. Jim Mannon will officiate the services
