Obituary

Funeral services for Elma Patricia Wood will be on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven, MS at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery in Jefferson County, MS. Bro. Steve Wooten will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Saturday, February 18, 2016, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

Mrs. Wood, 72, of Baton Rouge, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Our Lady of the Lakes Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born on December 13, 1944 at the home of her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dillion in Jefferson County, MS, to Elmer Allred and Myrtie Dillion Allred.

She graduated from Brookhaven High in 1963. She also graduated with a Business Degree from University of Southern Mississippi, where she met and married her husband, Steve Wood. They were married June 5, 1965. She later owned and operated Country Bumpkin Antiques in Baton Rouge, LA, for many years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Elmer Allred and Myrtie Allred Ferguson, and her step-father, Fred Ferguson.

Survivors are her sister, Shirley A. Stamps (owner / operator of Rainbow Florist for 60 years); her nephew, Warren Stamps; her niece, Sabrina Stamps; her great-nieces, Rebecca Mercier Jones and husband Jason, and Nicole McMillan; her great-nephew, Rob Mercier; her great-great nieces, Maddi Smith, and Hannah Jones.
