Obituary

Mildred Sasser Woodall, 90, of Bogue Chitto, MS, passed away peacefully on September 30,
2022, surrounded by family at her home. She was born on March 12, 1932, to Lillie Cranfield
and Clifton Cranfield in Franklin County, MS.

She graduated from Independence School. She spent her life diligently serving the Lord, her
family, and the community, always selflessly meeting the needs of others. She was very
involved in church, serving as WMU director, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and on
numerous committees. The last several years, she faithfully attended Montgomery Baptist
Church, where she was an active member of her Sunday school class.

As matriarch of a close-knit family, she loved being active in the lives of her children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A featured cook in The Daily Leader, she was well known for her culinary skills, always getting requests for her chicken pie, chocolate pie, and
egg custard pie. She enjoyed keeping a large garden every year, so fresh vegetables would be
plentiful.

Mildred was preceded in death by parents; husbands Russell Sasser and R. E. Woodall;
brothers Earl Wilkinson, Leroy Wilkinson, Floyd Wilkinson, Emmit Johnston, Ray Cranfield, and John Henry
Johnston; sisters Ammie Allred, Nannie Bell Allred, Myrtie Cranfield, Marie Pickering, Rhoda
Thorton, Bessie Mae Gill, and Mattie Jones; and a precious granddaughter Traci Sasser.
She is survived by children; sons Sidney Sasser (Melissa), Larry Sasser (Kathy), Danny Sasser,
Bruce Forshee (Mary); and daughters Sharon King (Scott) and Sheila Carter (Stan). She is also
survived by one sister Lillie Dickinson.

She was also blessed with eleven grandchildren; Kim Sasser Jones, Karen Vest (Johnaton),
Lane Sasser (Annisa), Dustin Sasser (Ashley), Blake Sasser (Brittany), Victoria McNair (Matt),
Brittany Williams (Jeff), Brooke Morse (Jacob), Danielle Sasser, Russ Carter (Lindsay), and Matt
Carter (Kady) and nineteen great grandchildren Kylie Windmiller, Zachary Jones, Sydney Vest,
Aiden Vest, Cooper Vest, Hunter Sasser, Colby Sasser, Elijah Sasser, Logan Sasser, Parker
Williams, Payton Williams, Paxton Williams, Madison Mildred Morse, Leighton Russell,
Anniston Carter, Beckett Carter, Landry Carter, Jackson Carter and Tate Carter.
Pallbearers are Russ Carter, Matt Carter, Lane Sasser, Blake Sasser, Hunter Sasser, and Colby
Sasser.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice Ministries Inc. including her caring
nurse Brittni Smith, Montgomery Baptist Church, and the friends and family in the community
that have provided prayer, food, love and support during this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Compassion International at
www.compassion.com or Gideons International at www.gideons.org as Mildred was avid in
reading her Bible.
