Mildred Mozell Segrest O'Quinn, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication to her family.

Mildred was born on April 19, 1928, in Bellevue, LA, to her loving parents, Hollie Henry Segrest and Mozell Wadsworth Segrest. At the age of two, her family moved to Blue Hill, Mississippi, where she spent her childhood and attended school in Blue Hill and Red Lick. After graduating high school, she pursued her studies in secretarial science at Hinds Community College.

During her college years, fate introduced her to the love of her life, James Franklin O'Quinn, through his sister, her roommate. Their love story blossomed, and on June 17, 1951, they were united in marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their family with unwavering love and devotion.

Mildred worked in Fayette and later in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for Judge Womack before dedicating herself to raising their children. She and James made their home in Springfield Plantation in Jefferson Country, where they welcomed Danny, Mark, Pat, and Peggy. They later moved to Fayette, where Lori was born, and then to Cannonsburg, where they owned J&M Grocery and welcomed their sons, Jimmy and Bill. Eventually, they settled in Blue Hill, where they owned a farm and raised their children in a home filled with warmth and faith. Their family worshipped at Blue Hill Methodist Church, the same church where they were married.

Later in life, Mildred and James moved to Wesson, Mississippi, where they owned and operated a thriving convenience store, best known for its delicious fried chicken- a favorite in the community. After retiring, Mildred enjoyed traveling and, most of all, spending time with her growing family.

Mildred was an exceptional cook, a devoted mother, and a cherished friend to all who knew her. She had a heart full of kindness and a spirit that made everyone feel welcomed and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hollie and Mozell Segrest; her beloved husband, James O'Quinn; granddaughter Christy O'Quinn Williamson; her daughters-in-law, Melinda O'Quinn and Shelia O'Quinn, and her sister, Thelma May Beard.

She is survived by her loving children: sons Danny (Shirley), Mark (Susan), Pat (Pansy), Jimmy (Casey), and Bill (Ashley); daughters Peggy (Scott) and Lori (Richard). Her legacy lives on through her 26 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, all of whom were blessed to experience her love and wisdom.

Mildred's life was a testament to faith, family, and kindness. She will be deeply missed, but the love she shared and the memories she created will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
