Funeral services for Mr. Michael Hewitt Smith will be on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Brookhaven Funeral Home in Brookhaven, MS at 12:00 Noon with burial to follow in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Copiah County, MS. Brookhaven Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Michael H. Smith, 68, of Brookhaven, MS passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at KDMC in Brookhaven. He was born in Brookhaven, MS on January 11, 1956 to Willie Hewitt Smith and Willie Marie Richardson Smith.

He was of the Baptist faith. He was the owner/ operator of Copiah Finance Company in Hazlehurst, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Marie Smith; two wives, Tonya Smith and Virginia Smith; his grandparents; a brother and a great nephew.

Survivors are his daughters, Debra Smith (Jesse), Renee' Durr, Jeana James, Cindy Durr and Mona Fletcher (Eric); grandchildren Gage, Logan, Drew, Kathrynn, Breanna, Ashley (Andrew), Christi, RJ (Carly), Nathan (Dezarae), Erica (Taylor), Heather, and CJ (Arie); 19 great-grandchildren; sister Janice Thornhill; nieces Theresa Martin and Kimberly Reed; 2 great nieces and 1 great nephew.
