Obituary

Mary Marilyn White Parks, 86, of Wesson MS died on Saturday, April 16, 2022.

Mrs. Parks was born in Lincoln County on October 29, 1935

Mrs. Parks was a member of Decell Methodist Church.  Mrs. Parks graduated from Monticello High school in 1954.  Mrs. Parks traveled with her husband, William J. Parks, between 1956 to 1962 while he was a member of the US Air Force and has been to all the states except Maine, Vermont, and Hawaii.

Mrs. Parks taught first grade and Kindergarten for Hinds County.  Mrs. Parks retired in 1987.  Mrs. Parks loved children and enjoyed seeing them learn.  Mary was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts (Boy Scouts of America).  Mrs. Parks belonged to several special needs organizations.  Mrs. Parks and her grandson, Dustin Ray Parks, went to Washington DC to lobby for education for special need children.  Mrs. Parks helped with the Dixie National rodeo for special needs children.  After Dustin passed away Mrs. Parks started the Dustin Ray Parks Memorial fund so special needs children could go to summer camp.

Mrs. Parks loved to go fishing and could tell a whopper of a tale!

Mrs. Parks was preceded in death by her husband, William Jim Park; her parents, David Littleton and Mary Elizabeth (Price) White; brother, Walter Taylor; sisters, Elaine Smith, Ava Brown, Annalee Allen and Patricia Shoemaker; and grandson, Dustin Ray Parks.

Survivors include, David Olen Parks and wife, Kelly King Parks; William Ray Parks; Christopher Ross Parks and wife, Dorothy Parks; Laura Leigh Parks Callicoatte and husband, Chris Callicoatte; Autumn Leigh Wells; Peyton Lee Parks; Carson Ross Parks; Olivia Rose Callicoatte; Noah Azriel Callicoatte; Carolyn Griffith; and Margaret Dambino
