Obituary

Funeral services for Mary Joyce Wallace Fairchild will be on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven, MS, at 1:00 PM with burial to follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Laurel, MS at 4:00 PM. Bro. Greg Warnock will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) on Thursday, February 16, 2017, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM.

Mrs. Fairchild, 81, formerly of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Monday, February 13, 2017, at MS Care Center in Morton, MS, with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 1, 1935, in McComb, MS, to Lowery and Rena Freeman Wallace. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven; was a homemaker; and enjoyed growing flowers, shopping, music and spending time with her family. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Lowery and Rena Freeman Wallace; husband, Leo Fairchild; infant daughter; and brothers, Melvin Wallace, Eugene Wallace and Edmond Wallace.

Survivors are her daughter, Hilda Fairchild Cox and husband Ray of Pelahatchie, MS; sons, Richard Fairchild and wife Pam of Madison, MS, and Leonard Fairchild and wife Kathy of Bogue Chitto, MS; grandchildren, Angie Evans Johnson and husband Kurt, Derrick Evans and wife Hannah, Melanie Fairchild Roberts, Megan Fairchild Blair and husband Dejay, and Wendy Fairchild; 7 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers are Wayne Wallace, Mitchell Wallace, Gary Wallace, Chris Wallace, Derrick Evans and Dylan Jones.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the MS Care Center in Morton, MS.
