Ms. Marcelle Annelle (Sis) Brennan, 91, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at her residence with her loving caregivers by her side. She was born on February 6, 1926 in Meridian, MS, to Edward Francis Brennan II and Marcelle O'Rorke Brennan. She was a lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi.
Ms. Sis loved all things Brookhaven and its history. She was a historian of South Jackson Street, knowing all residence with their history. She could tell you who built any of the older homes there and the history of each. She still had a very sharp mind and an insatiable curiosity to the end. She loved animals and especially her loving border collie, Bridgette, who was her constant companion for many years. She was very social, and in her younger years she loved to host parties, especially Bridge Parties. Everyone was always welcome to her home and the coffee pot was always on and full.
Ms. Sis retired from the Daily Leader after 37 ½ years, where she was the Social Editor. Her position was a perfect fit with her curiosity and love for Brookhaven and its people.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister Mary Anne Brennan; and her brothers, Edward Francis Brennan III, and Charles Emmett Brennan.
Survivors are her cousins, Mary Anne Brennan of Brookhaven, Jay Travis and wife Judith of Jackson, MS, Fred Travis and wife Alex of New York, NY, George Soule of Meridian, MS, Hubert Brennan, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA, and Vincent Brennan, Jr. of Shreveport, LA.
A special "thank you" for her loving caregivers: Bonnie Turner, Regina Brock, Emmajean Smith, and Shelia Lambert. She also had special friends and neighbors; Pat Arnold, Margarite Ferrell, and Mary Maddox.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ms. Sis's name may be made to the Brookhaven Animal Rescue League.
