Funeral services for Mamie Clinton Johnson will be on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Gum Grove Baptist Church (1233 Gum Grove Road SW) in Brookhaven, MS, at 12:00 PM with burial to follow in the Gum Grove Cemetery. Bro. Chad Ballard will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at Gum Grove Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the start of the service at 12:00 PM.
Mrs. Mamie Clinton Johnson of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at home with his loving family by her side. She was born on September 20, 1933, in Heiberger, AL, to Mr. Woodfinn Clinton and Mrs. Charlie Eunice Bamburg Clinton. She married the love of her life, Floyd C. Johnson, on December 24, 1954, and was married for 50 years. She had 3 children, a son Rickey Floyd Johnson; and daughters, Regina Johnson East and Tina Johnson. She was a member of Gum Grove Baptist Church and worked for many years as at Stahl Urban in Brookhaven, MS.
She enjoyed taking care of her family. She helped keep two generations of grandchildren while their parents were working and loved spoiling them rotten. She was a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She loved gardening and working with her plants.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Woodfinn Clinton and Charlie Eunice Bamburg Clinton; her husband, Floyd C. Johnson; her son, Ricky Floyd Johnson; her brothers, Ernest Clinton and Rodney Clinton; sister, Ann Hughey; and brothers-in-law, Henry Pittman and Dan Lancaster.
Survivors are her daughters, Regina Johnson East and husband Andy East, and Tina Johnson; sisters, Mary Altar Clinton Lancaster, Alice Clinton Pittman, and Edna Clinton Wilkes and husband John; brother, Thomas Clinton; grandchildren, Matt East and wife Eva, Blake East and wife Mandy, Brandon Johnson and wife Jacey, Clay Johnson and wife Kaci, Stacy Foote and husband Skooter, and Misty Morrison and husband Scott; great-grandchildren, Macy East, Wyatt East, Branden Wicker, Lyndsey Burns and husband Austin, Emma East, Drew East, Ella Johnson, Ava Johnson, Jesse Brister, Colton Brister, Katelyn Morrison, Henley Johnson, Brenna Branton, Emmy Branton, and Rhett Beard; and a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Pallbearers are Matt East, Blake East, Brandon Johnson, Wyatt East, Branden Wicker, and Todd Hall. Honorary pallbearers are Clay Johnson, Jesse Brister, Colton Brister, Eric Nettles, and Drew East.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Enhabit Hospice, the many nurses, nurse practitioners, Dr. Ed Moak, aides, chaplains, and social workers and volunteer workers that worked with her and her daughters, and who became special friends during this time. The love and care shown to her and her daughters during this difficult time in her life was greatly appreciated. Also, thank you to special friends who visited her and loved her.
