Lucille Price Thames, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 in
Brookhaven, Mississippi. She was married to the late William W. Thames for nearly
seventy years before his passing in 2018.
Mrs. Thames was born on August 21, 1928 in Jayess, Mississippi to Thomas and Laura
Bessonette Price. She was the middle child of seven and was loved by all her brothers
and sisters, whom she deeply loved in return. She was preceded in death by her
parents, five of her siblings, and her son-in-law David G. Robinson.
Left to cherish her memory are daughter Cynthia T. Robinson of Murfreesboro, TN; son
William W. Thames III and wife Sandra of Ocean Springs, MS; granddaughters Laura
Robinson of Murfreesboro, TN, Kimberly Padeletti and husband Edoardo of Houston,
TX, and Jessica Thames of Fort Belvoir, VA. She absolutely adored being "Great-
Grandmother" to Olivia and Sofia Padeletti of Houston, TX and "Lulu" to Zac and Logan
Gilreath of Gahanna, OH. She is also survived by her sister Addie Winfrey of
Mechanicsville, VA and brother-in-law Jack Smith of Brookhaven as well as numerous
nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Mrs. Thames was a 1946 graduate of Fair Oak Springs High School. She was an
excellent student, and following graduation became a secretary. For many years, she
worked for Ratliff Sheet Metal as their secretary and bookkeeper. However, her primary
career focus was as a devoted wife and mother.
Mrs. Thames was a woman of deep faith and a lifelong Baptist. She made her
profession of faith as a young teenager at Union Hall Baptist Church, Brookhaven and
was a member of that congregation until her marriage in 1948. She moved her
membership back to Union Hall upon returning to Brookhaven with her family in 1968
and was a steadfast member there for all of her remaining years.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday evening, November 24 from 2:00 to 5:00 and
Monday morning, November 25 from 10:00 to 12:00 at Brookhaven Funeral Home. A
graveside service will be held at Union Hall Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on
Monday afternoon, November 25.
