Funeral services for Mr. Lonnie Herring will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home in Brookhaven, MS on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in the Heucks Retreat Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. David Millican will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 5:00 PM till 9:00 PM and will resume on Thursday morning from 12:00 PM till the time of the service.

Lonnie Herring, 89, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Friday, February 16, 2024 at his home. He was born on September 16, 1934 in Sicily Island, LA to Clarence Herring and Mary Womack Herring. He was of the Baptist faith. He worked many years as a logger in MS and AR. He retired from Keystone Seneca in Brookhaven after 25 years. He enjoyed working.

Mr. Lonnie loved his family and his grandkids and great grandkids. He loved spending time with all of them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Herring; his wife Lemmie B Foster Herring; sisters Ruby Dunigan, Audrey Gerald, and Laura Bell Butler; and brothers Roy Herring and Fred Herring.

Survivors include his daughter Mary Posey; sons Ronnie Herring (Robin) and Jerry Herring; grandchildren Andrea Grammer, Michael Thornton (Anita), Justin Herring and Shane Herring (Kellie); great grandchildren Stephanie Grammer, Bradley Grammer, Johnny Bass, Abigail Brister (Bradyn), Mitchell Thornton (Ashton), Colton Herring and Tyler Herring; great-great grandchildren Braxtyn Brister, Tucker Thornton, Archer Thornton and Miller Thornton.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Margaret Brown, Paul Reed, Brandy Posey and Jr. Posey. They also would like to thank the staff at Gentiva Hospice for all they did for daddy.
