Graveside services for Lexie W. Covington will be on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at New Sight Cemetery in Brookhaven, MS, at 11:30 AM. Bro. Todd Sumrall will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at New Sight Baptist Church on Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM.

Mrs. Covington, 97, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Diversicare Nursing Home.  She was born on September 1, 1924, in Brookhaven, MS, to John M. Wilkinson and Maybelle Sykes Wilkinson. LaLa was a member of New Sight Baptist Church. She worked for many years at the picture show. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents John and Maybelle Wilkinson; husband of 53 years, J.C. Covington; daughter Ramona Case; grandson Jody Butler and 9 siblings.

Survivors are her children, Prine Covington (Sandra), Cynthia Smith (Tommy), Mark Covington (Ronda); 8 grandchildren, Jeff Covington (Patty), Mike Covington (Robin), Shawn Case (Amy), Rhett Case (Jessie), Josh Smith (Tammy), Derek Smith, Ben Covington (Beth) and Brittany Alexander (Tyler); 17 great-grandchildren; son-in-law Jerry Nelson Case and a host of family and friends.
