Obituary

Lela Juanita Delaughter passed away on June 9, 2021, at the age of 82 years old following a long illness. Juanita was a life-long resident of Brookhaven, Mississippi, and married to the love of her life and best friend of 63 years, Louis Delaughter. Juanita's example of laughter, love, and kindness will live on in our hearts and memories. Juanita served her community and church with complete devotion. Her careers as a beautician and a nurse enabled her to do what she did best, help others. We are left with a growing awareness of the giant void her absence leaves in our lives. Without her smile, touch, and wisdom, we are lost. She is irreplaceable to us, but, as she told us, our bonds are unbreakable, and we will meet again.

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, David Britt and Leanne McAllister Britt, brothers Dykes Britt, Donald Britt, Dennis Britt, and Dwane Britt, and sisters Aileen Vince and an infant sister.

Juanita is survived by her loving husband Louis Delaughter and devoted children Cabrina Weeks (Dean), Randy Delaughter (Annette), Cindy Delaughter-Hall (Bart), and Ronny Delaughter (Kelly). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Brittany Trent (Robert), Matthew Delaughter (Annie), Lyle Weeks (Adrienne), Abby Delaughter, Brooke Keene (Travis), Nick Delaughter (Shoncye), Meggie Dobson, Lyndon Weeks (Wayne), Kirsten Dobson, Brantley Weeks, Cortland Dobson, and Adam Satterfield (M. J.); and eleven great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. Our family will greatly miss our beautiful wife, mother, and grandmother.

Funeral services are private, with interment at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - Red Star Ward in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Ray Montalvo, Deaconess Home Care, Compassus Hospice Care, and to all those who offered prayers and thoughts during this difficult time.
