Funeral services for Lanell Posey Thompson will be on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Gum Grove Baptist Church in Brookhaven, MS at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in the Gum Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven, MS. Bro. Benji Pyeatt will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Gum Grove Baptist Church on Thursday, March 22, 2018, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

Mrs. Thompson, 89, of Bogue Chitto, MS, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Silver Cross Nursing Home in Brookhaven, MS with her loving family by her side. She was born on January 30, 1929 in Brookhaven, MS, to Rupert Posey and Mary Edna Smith Posey. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Gum Grove Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Rupert and Edna Posey; husband, John W. Thompson III; daughter, Judy Thompson Griffin; sisters, Donis Posey; and brothers, J.W. Posey, Skeet Posey, and Mike Posey.

Survivors are her daughter, Debbie Hart of Bogue Chitto, MS; grandsons, Dave Griffin, Johnny Griffin, Lance Griffin, Corey Hart; great grandsons, Sid Griffin, Judson Griffin, Avery Griffin, Aiden Griffin, Austin Griffin. Connor Griffin and Cole Griffin; great granddaughter, Kasidy Griffin; sisters, Irene P. Smith and Betty McManus; brother Jack Posey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
