A celebration of life service for Miss Judie McKee will be on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Rosehill Cemetery in Brookhaven, MS, at 12:00 PM. Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Miss McKee, 72, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 14, 2018, at Hospice Ministries Inpatient Center, Ridgeland, MS, and entered into Heaven healed & whole!
A native of Brookhaven, Judie graduated high school and immediately started working at MP&L. After a few years, she changed gears and went into the world of banking. She finally went to work for the Mississippi State Department of Transportation in Brookhaven where she retired as Office Manager.
Judie will be remembered for her love of photography & art, for creating personalized greeting cards and booklets, her fiercely independent nature, tea parties, spending time with her lifelong friends, and driving Alma B. each night in and around town in her 1967 baby blue Mustang, lovingly referred to as "Blue." She also enjoyed all kinds of music from Joe Tex to Cool & the Gang to Patsy Cline to disco to Charlie Rich to Jimmy Swaggart & more.
She is survived by her brother, James B. McKee of Korea (Suki); sister, Gloria McKee Broadwater of Clinton; brother, Fred C. McKee (Janice) of Brookhaven; cousin, Sally Lou McKee Schutz of Brookhaven; cousin, Steve McKee of Brookhaven; nieces and nephews, & great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Frances McKee; father, Boyce McKee; mother, Alma B. McKee; sister, Janice M. Wallace; and longtime boyfriend, Edwin N. Prichard.
Many thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses, aides, & first responders from KDMC, St. Luke's Home Health, & Hospice Ministries.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Batson Children's Hospital in her name and mailed to UMMC Development Accounting, 2500 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39216. Memorial donations can also be made online at umc.edu/givenow.
