Joe Ray Baitz (81) was born in Knox City, TX on December 29, 1939 to Herbert and Lurlene Baitz. He passed from this life February 26, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. Joe was a loving husband, cherished father, and devoted papa. Joe married the love of his life, Patricia Summers Baitz, at age 18 and celebrated 62 years together last August. Joe served 35 years in the Texas National Guard attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer and later worked for the IRS. He retired to his home in Austin, TX, where he enjoyed playing golf with friends and frequenting the gun range. Joe held a private pilot's license for many years and at one time owned his own plane. Joe also enjoyed volunteering as a greeter for Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Herbert and Lurlene Baitz; his daughter, Pamela Baitz; his brother Tommy Baitz; and the best dogs known to man, Dexter, Dixie, Ginger and Annie.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Patricia; his son, Tim Baitz (Beth Baitz) and daughter, Harlie Blauw (Jesiah Blauw); his sisters, Sarah Carter and Judy Lang; and his granddaughter, Adeline Blauw.

A memorial to honor his life will be held in Austin, TX at a later date.
