Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Smith will be on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at New Hope Church of Christ in Brookhaven, MS, at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the New Hope Church of Christ Cemetery. Bro. Joel Smith and Bro. Bob Loudermilk will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at New Hope Church of Christ on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will resume Thursday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.

Mr. Smith, 71, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at his residence. He was born on August 22, 1948, in Brookhaven, MS, to Paul Butler Smith and Wessie Smith Smith. He was a member of the congregation at New Hope Church of Christ where he served as treasurer for 26 years. He enjoyed his work as a self-employed logger and woodcarving, with a specialty in bowls; and found joy is his dozer work along with helping others, always in the background. Mr. Smith was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents; Paul and Wessie Smith and his first wife Charlotte Ann Calcote Smith.

Survivors are his wife Rebecca Cheryl Lofton Smith; children, Bradley Jim Smith and wife Amy, Daniel Lance Smith and wife Christy, Jason McKinley Smith and wife Kala, Terry Morgan, Tracey Morgan Leger and Denna Morgan Fortenberry and husband David; grandchildren, Walker Adam Smith, Powell Butler Smith, Rachel Faith Smith, Nicholas Daniel Smith, Abagail Grayce Smith, Isabelle Elizabeth Smith, McKinley Jacob Smith, Jameson Russell Smith, Aidan Christopher Smith, Corbin Steele Smith, Alexis Golmon and husband Morgan, Kelsi Lightell and husband Jason and Morgan Leger;  great-grandchild, Weston Golmon; brothers Paul Curtis Smith and wife Sylvia and Probie Lee Smith and wife Wanda; sister Faye Alice Callender and husband Clayton; and a host of family and friends.
