Jeff G. McCardle, Sr., 63, of Hazlehurst, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in West Monroe, Louisiana. Jeff was born on May 18, 1963, in Hazlehurst to the late Cecil McCardle and Jean Courtney.
Jeff was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who’s greatest joy in life was his family. He shared 34 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Lacey McCardle. Together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family. He is also survived by his children, Jeffrey McCardle, Jr., Brandi James and her husband, Kyle, Rayne Shelton and her husband, Ross, and Trace McCardle.
Known lovingly as “Papaw” or “Papaw Jeff”, he treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren: Kiley, Brantley, and Anna Rae James, and Ellee, Brooks, and Mabri Shelton. Whether he was cheering them on from the sidelines at their sporting events of grilling for family gatherings, or simply enjoying time together, being their Papaw was one of his greatest blessings.
Jeff is also survived by his siblings; Casey O’Quinn and her husband, Jimmy, Chris McCardle and his wife, Renee, and David McCardle, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.
Jeff dedicated many years of his life as a pipeline superintendent. Throughout his career, he built lasting friendships with coworkers who became like family. He was known for his incredible work ethic and unwavering commitment to providing for those he loved. No task was too big when it came to taking care of his family, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.
A faithful member of Westside Baptist Church, Jeff live a life rooted in faith, love and service. In his spare time, he enjoyed grilling keeping his yard looking its best, crossing projects off his ever-present “honey-do list”, and more recently, spending Saturday nights watching his son-in-law, Kyle, race Factory Stock dirt track cars. Above all else, he cherished the time he spent with his family.
Jeff will be remembered for his kind heart, dependable nature, quiet strength, and the unconditional love he gave so freely. To know jeff was to know a man who loved his family with his while heart, never met a stranger, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His legacy of hard work, selflessness, and devotion to his family will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. with the interment service to follow at Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that his race is finished, his work is done, and he is now resting in the arms of his Savior. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Partner Industrial, LLC, and especially those who stood by Jeff throughout his many years of dedicated service. We are deeply grateful for the kindness, generosity, and support shown to our family during this difficult time. Their compassion and thoughtfulness will never be forgotten.
