Obituary

Mrs. Janice Lofton Addison, 81, of Kentwood, Louisiana passed away at her home on Friday, September 25, 2026. Janice was born on April 2, 1945, in Lincoln County, Mississippi, to Troy Luther Lofton and Laura Jane Cannon Lofton.

Her family will receive visitors at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Thursday, October 1, from 12 o’clock noon until time of services at 2 o’clock. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, on the same day, with graveside services to follow in the Bogue Chitto Cemetery.

Janice was a homemaker who had an infinite love for her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family and friends. Together with Donald, she was the anchor of a five-generation family. She was an excellent cook and so many wonderful memories were made around the meals she lovingly prepared for family and friends. She had a deep love for flowers and gardening; and was known for her intuitive knowledge of plants. Janice leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, family and memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Addison was preceded in death by her parents, and her stepmother Louise Nelson Lofton; one brother, Jerome Lofton; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Josephine Willie Addison and Herbert Stewart Addison, Sr.; along with five brothers-in-law, and a sister-in-law.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 63 years, Donald Addison; her children, Donna Suzette Addison, Scott Randall Addison (GayLynn), Jana Nicole Addison; three grandchildren, Karla Jordan, Rebecca Stewart (Christopher), and Sarah Addison; three great-grandchildren, Krista Murphy (Donnie), Eliza Walley (Devin), and Grayson Stewart; four great-great grandchildren, Mariahna, Adalynn, Kodi, and Declan; and one expected great-great grandchild. She is also survived by three brothers, Douglas (Iva Pearl), Ken (Betty), and Butch Lofton (Shonna); four sisters, Ellen Wallace, Patsy Wallace (Milton), Marcia Allred, and Connie Porter (Rickey); sisters-in-law, Willie Fay Lofton and Sandra Addison; along with a host of extended family and friends.
