Funeral services for Mr. James Patrick Parsons will be on Monday, May 7, 2018, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (894 Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven, MS at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Smithdale, MS. Elders Luke Addison and Harvey Bates will be officiating the services. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Sunday, May 6, 2018, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.

Mr. James, 83, of Copiah County, MS, passed from this life on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Silver Cross Nursing Home with his loving family by his side. He was born on May 26, 1934 in Franklin County, MS, to Patrick Grant Parsons and Ada Pearl Smith Parsons. He enjoyed farming and going to Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, neighbor, and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his sisters, Imogene Breeden and Irene Jamison.

Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Eva Nell Parsons; his son, Johnny C. Parsons and wife, Carol; daughter, Janice Swicegood and husband, Jack; 4 grandsons and 7 great grandchildren; his sisters, Catherine Nuhn and Betty McInnis; his brother, Vernon Hydrick; and a host of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in James Patrick Parsons's name may be made to: Mt. Gilead Cemetery Fund via Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church.
