Funeral services for Mr. Isom Houie Smith will be on Friday, January 6, 2023, at Big Springs Baptist Church in Brookhaven, MS, at 12:00 PM with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.  Bro. Billy Joe Deer and Bro. Kenny Cantrell will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM and at the Church on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

Mr. Houie Smith, 84, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at home with his loving family by his side.  He was born on January 29, 1938, in Brookhaven, MS, to Virgil and Ruby Lee Smith.  He was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church; worked for many years as a Machine operator at Keystone Seneca; and enjoyed hunting and being outdoors, and riding the side by side with his dog Daisy.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife of 58 years, Willie Mae Smith; a brother, Billy Ray Smith; and a great-granddaughter, MaKenzie Joan Smith.

Survivors are his son, Stephen Ray Smith; daughter, Kay Martin (Billy); grandchildren, Cassie Dunaway (Brent), Jessica Nilsson (Tyler), and Justin Smith (Summer);  great-grandchildren, Harlee Dunaway, Hayden Dunaway, Seth Nilsson, Raelyn Nilsson, Makayla Smith, Jameson Smith, and Bryson Smith;  a very special cousin that he considered a daughter, Angie Perry; his special godson, Shane Allen; and a host of family and friends.
