Funeral services for Mrs. Irene Lofton will be on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Brookhaven Funeral Home in Brookhaven, Mississippi at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Chad Yarborough will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM.

Mrs. Lofton, 94, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on December 15, 2023.  She was born on December 18, 1928, in Brookhaven, MS, to Clem and Mildred Dunnigan Smith. She loved the Lord and her church family; she was the oldest member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a caretaker for the elderly and enjoyed baby sitting and spending time with children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Lofton; her parents and her siblings, Herman "PeeWee" Smith, Calvin Smith, Chester Smith, and Katie Ruth Wilkinson.

Survivors include her son, Roy G. Lofton (Jenny) of Brookhaven; grandchildren, Mandy Smith (Gary), Brandi Jenkins (Victor), Jamie Smith (Stephanie), and Janneast Lofton; and great-grandchildren, Haley Smith, Cody Smith, John Louis Smith, Avery Smith, Mike Jenkins, and Gabi Montes De Oca.
