Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Herbert Leonard Moore will be on Monday, August 22, 2016, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven, MS at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in the Riverwood Cemetery in Brookhaven, MS. Rev. Greg Warnock and Rev. Chad Moore will be officiating the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) on Sunday, August 21, 2016, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Monday, August 22, 2016, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

Mr. Moore, 88, passed from this life on August 19, 2016, at his residence in Brookhaven, MS with his loving family by his side. He was born on July 7, 1928, in Philadelphia, MS, to Albert C. and Nettie Pilgrim Moore. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven. He was the owner/operator of Herbert L. Moore, Inc. for 45 years. He was a member of the Brookhaven Exchange Club and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a special uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Albert C. and Nettie Pilgrim Moore; sisters, Martele Moore Goldman, Helen Moore Wilkinson and Katie Mae Moore Bobo; and brothers, Devon Moore, Wilson Moore, Rudolph Moore and Kenneth Moore; and grandson, Steven Matthew McBride.

Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Lois Nelson Moore; daughters, Melinda Moore McBride and husband Steve and Phyllis Moore Wallace, all of Brookhaven, MS; son, Jerry Moore and wife Cathy of Brookhaven, MS; grandchildren, Chris Moore and wife Leah, Chad Moore and wife Whitney, Marcus McBride and wife Mindy, Kimberly McBride Goza and husband Ben, Blake Wallace and wife Allison, Erica Wallace Simmons and husband Blake, Allyson Wallace Smith and husband Michael and Taylor Wallace and fiancé Kelly Dunaway; great grandchildren, James Moore, Micah Moore, Grace Moore, Annaleigh Moore, Ava Claire Moore, Jase McBride, Lleyton Goza, Beckett Goza, Lynley Goza, Graham Goza, Tucker Wallace, Katherine Wallace, Piker Wallace, John Patrick Wallace, Conar Simmons, Zoey Simmons, Madi Simmons and arriving soon, Hollis Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers are Marcus McBride, Ben Goza, Blake Wallace, Taylor Wallace, Blake Simmons, and Michael Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Tucker Wallace, Piker Wallace, John Patrick Wallace, the members of the Wesley Kent Sunday School Class and the Brookhaven Exchange Club.
