A private family memorial service for Hazel Christine Ashley Maples will be held on a later date at her residence in the New Sight community in Brookhaven, MS.

Mrs. Maples, 87, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at The Claiborne Retirement Community in McComb, MS. She was born on February 27, 1931 in Natchez, MS, to Lonnie Nathan Ashley and Jannie Gober Ashley. Mrs. Maples enjoyed fishing, especially in the bayous of Louisiana. She was a loving mother and great grandmother.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Lonnie and Jannie Ashley; husbands, Avon McIlwain, Delos McManus and Alton Maples; son, Edward McIlwain; sister, Beck Ashley; and brothers, Willis Ashley, Nathan Ashley and Prim Ashley .

Survivors are her son, L. D. McManus; 3 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Sarah Ashley Maples and Dot Ashley Price; and a host of family and friends.
