Funeral services for Glen B. Allred will be on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Brookhaven Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in the Bogue Chitto Cemetery. Bro. Bert Sasser and Bro. Trent Bilbo will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
Glen B. Allred, 76, of Brookhaven, MS, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Meadville, MS. He was born on June 21, 1947 in Smithdale, MS to Mearl Allred and Ammie Wilkinson Allred. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He was owner/operator of Brookhaven Glass Company. Mr. Glen had a great love of trains stemming from his time as a brakeman with Illinois Central Railroad. He enjoyed good food and spending time with family. He loved riding on his tractor and playing on his bulldozer. "Papaw" loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed beach vacations and spending time with his family at the lake house.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mearl and Ammie Allred; son Anthony Glen Allred; brother Herman Allred; and brothers-in-law Jerome Lofton, Homer Madison, and James Wallace.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Marcia Kay Lofton Allred; son Timothy Allred (Teresa); daughter Janet Allred Dunaway (Scott); grandchildren Troy Allred (Taylor), Brady Dunaway (Jessica), Matthew Allred, and Laura Leigh Nations (Gabe); great grandchildren Alice Ann Allred, Magnolia Jane Dunaway, Jackson Glenn Nations and Madden Scott Dunaway; siblings Ouida Madison, Betty Hill, Carolyn Moak (Herman); lots of nieces and nephews; extended family to include several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and a special friend, Marly Nations.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX and to the Mississippi Cancer Institute in McComb, MS.
