Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. George Melvin Allen will be held at Calvary Baptist Church (Bogue Chitto, MS) at 12 o'clock noon on Saturday, May 16, 2026; the family will receive visitors at the church on the same morning from 9 o'clock in the morning until time of services. Graveside services will follow in the church cemetery. 

Mr. George Melvin Allen, 90, of Bogue Chitto, MS, passed from this life on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS. He was born on July 20, 1935, in Wesson, MS, to George Oliver and Susie Bell Kimble Allen.

He was a faithful member and the oldest father at Calvary Baptist Church. He worked for many years as a truck driver for Stahl-Urban, Merchants Truck Line, and ABM Services. He also drove a school bus for the Lincoln County School District. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 62 years, Maude Edwina Crosby Allen; his parents; in-laws, Henry and Maude Smith Crosby; brothers, Hugh and Aubrey Allen; nephew, Greg Douchard; sisters-in-law, Betty and Earline Allen, Audra Wright, Imogene Falvey, Addie Dixon, Lynn Reeves, Jewel Crosby, and Mattaleen Moak; brothers-in-law, Sonny, Lamar, John, Jerry, and Butch Crosby, Vernon Wright, Randolph Falvey, and Hulon Dixon.

Survivors include his sons, George Gregory Allen of Bogue Chitto, and Stephen Randell Allen (Jill) of Summit; niece Vickie Falvey Douchard (Stephen Berry) of Wesson; brothers, N.S. Allen (Eva) and Troy Allen (Clara Bell); grandchildren, Georganna Suzanne Allen, Stephen Philip Allen (Taylor), Danielle Grace Allen (Tyler Harris), Meagan Rochelle (Timothy), Hunter Rousseau (Laura), Brett Douchard (Anna), Corey Douchard (Stacy), April Tanksley (Adam); 13 great-grandchildren (& one on the way); sisters-in-law Bobbie, Ruth, and Mary Crosby; brother-in-law, Melvin Reeves; and a host of family, church family, and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the U.S. Veterans Home and Covington County Hospital in Collins, Forrest General Hospital and Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund.
