Funeral services for George F. Higdon will be on Friday, December 2, 2016, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven, MS at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the Rosehill Cemetery in Brookhaven, MS. Bro. Chris DeGeorge and Bro. Ryan Thurman will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) on Thursday, December 1, 2016, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and will continue on Friday, December 2, 2016, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.
Mr. Higdon, 89, passed from this life on Monday, November 28, 2016, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven, MS, with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 21, 1927, in Lincoln County, MS, to George H. and Bessie Felder Higdon. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Wesson, MS; served his country in the US Navy during World War II; a member of the Brookhaven Masonic Lodge No 241; and enjoyed his dogs and spending time with his family. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
Preceding him in death were his parents, George H. and Bessie Felder Higdon; and wife, Lolita Newman Higdon.
Survivors are his sons, George L. Higdon of Brookhaven, MS, and Burrell L. Higdon and wife Kim of Greenville, SC; daughter, Betty Benton of Crystal Springs, MS; grandchildren, James Higdon, Michelle Higdon, Daniel Higdon, Curtis Benton and wife Jennifer, and Darrell Benton and wife Toni; 3 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
