Funeral services for Mr. George M. Callender, Sr. will be on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Brookhaven Funeral Home in Brookhaven, MS (894 Natchez Drive) at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the Topisaw Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. David Moree will be officiating the services. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Friday, June 8, 2018, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Saturday, June 9 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

Mr. George, 84, of Ruth, MS, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Silver Cross Nursing Home with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 7, 1933 in Jackson, MS, to Ottis Carley Callender and Vada Suritha George Callender. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Marguerite Hoskins Callender; his parents; daughter, Donnie Jean Lambert; his grandson, Jamie Ray Cartrette; 1 sister and 3 brothers.

Survivors are his daughters, Connie Coffman and husband John, Sheri Hokamp and husband Danny, Kay Smith and husband Leo; sons, George Callender, Jr. and Pam, Russell Callender and wife Ondria; 9 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mr. George's name may be made to: Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital.
