Funeral services for Mrs. Exie J. Newton will be on Friday, July 16, 2021, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (894 Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven, MS, at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Greg Warnock will be officiating the services. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Friday, July 16, 2021, from 9:00 until 11:00 AM.

Mrs. Exie, 91, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at home with her loving daughters, Sally and Rebecca, by her side.  She was born on May 13, 1930, in Brookhaven, MS, to Lucius and Beatrice Jackson. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Sherman Newton; son, Albert Mitchel Jordan; Grandson, Jeff Jordan; great-grandsons, Rhett Brooks and Rowdy Lee Smith; son-in-laws, Phil Maddox and Craig Smith; and brother, Paul B. Jackson.

Survivors are her children, Sherite Hall and husband Charles, Sally Maddox, and Rebecca Ashmore and husband Jamie; sister, Montel Smith and Mary Smith; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
