Funeral services for Mr. Emmett Gene Posey, Sr. will be held at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Saturday, September 28 at 2:00 in the afternoon with burial to follow in the Wellman Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Jeff Davis will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of services.

Mr. Posey, 77, of Bogue Chitto, passed from this life on September 23, 2024. He was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi on July 1, 1947 to Nettie Grace Posey and Emmett Lihu Posey. Gene worked for most of his life in the oilfield, working in every position over the years. Outside of work, he loved going out on his boat and fishing, especially in his huge pond that he enjoyed caring for and maintaining. He loved to eat and always had his wife testing new recipes; Gene also loved to sing and his family fondly remembers him singing one of his favorites – "There's a Hole in the Bottom of The Sea!" Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his children and granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sons, Emmett Gene Posey, Jr. and Bryan Keith Posey; as well as his siblings, Judy Rushing and James Lamar.

Survivors include his wife, Erma Jean Posey; his son, Allen Keith Posey; his siblings, Brenda Cavin (Jerry) and Rebecca Kelly; his grandchildren, Sierra Stabler, Jaydin Stabler and Kayleigh Stabler; along with many special family and friends.
