Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Jean Smith will be on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Brookhaven Funeral Home in (894 Natchez Drive) Brookhaven, MS at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in the Stewart Cemetery in Bogue Chitto, MS. Bro. Lindeal Greer and Bro. Allen Jenkins will be officiating the service. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Sunday, March 31, from 1:00 until the time of the service.

Mrs. Smith, 66, formerly of Bogue Chitto, MS, passed from this life on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 16, 1952 in Brookhaven, MS, to Jim Buitt and Ruth Richardson Buitt Jackson. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She also loved taking care of the elderly. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Geraldine McFall; and brothers, Pearlie Buitt, Leon Buitt, Marvin Buitt, Charles Buitt, and Dave Buitt; and several step brothers and sisters.

Survivors are her husband of 45 years, Leon Smith; sons, Matt Harris (Rachel) and Jerry Smith; daughters, Glenda Coghlan (Brian), Ginger Wittner (Vivian), Rachel Case (Tate); grandchildren, Ray Harris (Cortney), Taylor Moore, Chey Harris, Maggie Wimberly, Dylan Case, Emalyn Langley, Courtney Coghlan, Lorelai Langley, William Smith, Jake Smith, McKinley Harris, Randy Harris; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Robert Buitt and Sylvester Buitt; sisters, Ann Caves, Nita Lusk, and Martha Sanford; several step brothers and sisters; and a host of family and friends.
