Emma Sue Ferguson, age 78, of Wesson, MS passed away March 3, 2026. She was born in Brookhaven, MS on October 12, 1947 to Ivan Henry Reed and Lula Leola Knight Reed.
Sue, as everyone knew her, was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was retired from the Department of Human Services, where she worked many years as a clerk.
Sue loved spending time with her family, especially with those who called her Mamaw Sue. She enjoyed trips to the mountains and seeing other parts of the country. Her heart belonged to nature. She spent many hours working in her flower beds, walking to the pond to feed the fish, and on any day you visited, you would find her sitting on her porch watching the birds and other animals that she fed. Sue had pets all her life. Any stray cat or dog that came to her house found a permanent home.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Leola Reed; infant granddaughter, Emily Hodges; grandson, Joey Judd; and son-in-law, Paul Hodges.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 42 years, Danny Ferguson; Daughters, Sharon Hodges, Rebecca Judd, and Holly Fowler (Chris); son, Greg Smith (Jeanie); grandchildren, Nick Judd, Natalie Hudson (Sawyer), Makenzie Smith, Dane Smith (Leigh-Taylor), Gracie Smith, Linsey Fowler, and Mark Hodges; and her great-grandchildren, Charlie Spiers, Drew Spiers, and Matthew Hudson.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Kings Daughters Medical Center and University of MS Medical Center for their kindness and care during her final days, especially to MEL, Brady, and the other nurses in the NeuroICU at UMMC.
