Dorothy Inez Cammack (Youngblood) Berg, 102, was called peacefully home on Sunday, March
6, 2022. Dorothy was born in Rodney, MS on May 14, 1919 to Luther and Anna Herring
Cammack. The youngest of six children, Dorothy grew up to love flowers, beautiful things, and
the color pink. She attended school in Brookhaven, MS through the seventh grade, and one
year in a country church in Rodney, MS, before finishing her education at Fayette High School.
In May of 1937 Dorothy turned 18, graduated from school, and married the love of her life, Fred
Youngblood, all on the same day. Together, Fred and Dorothy raised their three children and
enjoyed a loving, happy marriage until Fred's passing in 1983. Several years later, she married
second husband, Einar Berg.
After Einar's death in 1992, Dorothy resided in Colorado, Mississippi, and Texas, moving at
various times to live near each of her children.
Affectionately known as GG by her great-grandchildren and 3G by the great-great
grandchildren, Dorothy will be remembered for her refined and quiet (but strong) demeanor, her
love of flowers and beauty, the quilts she made and gave to her family members, and her
extensive collection of teapots. She was a polite and charming southern belle, always perfectly
dressed and coiffed.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Anna Cammack; siblings Lewis
Cammack, Edwin Cammack, Irene Arnold, Anna Meteer and Sylvia Duckworth; husband Fred
Youngblood, second husband Einar Berg, and grandson Matt McCartney. She is survived by
her three children, Ann Powers, Ginger Huggins and Ralph Youngblood; grandchildren Lori
Weir, Holly Toomey, David Powers, Steven Powers, Christie Plyman, Laura Sanders, Jennifer
Evans, Ralph Youngblood, Jr and Daniel Youngblood, as well as numerous great-grandchildren
and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Brookhaven Funeral Home at noon on Friday, March 11, followed by
funeral services at 2:00 and graveside services immediately afterward in Union Church.
