Clifford "Barry" Brister, age 74 passed away July 23, 2026 at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood, MS surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on September 24, 1951 in Brookhaven, Mississippi to Melton & Tera Smith Brister.
The family will be welcoming relatives and friends to a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home.
Barry spent most of his life in the Caseyville Community. He attended Enterprise Attendance Center and Brookhaven High School, where he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. He later attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. He worked many years in the off-shore oil industry, oftentimes with family members which led to many stories and laughter over the years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed family gatherings, cookouts and boils and often went on fishing trips with his good friend Chuck. He was an avid deer and coon hunter and liked to take his favorite dog, Pappy with him. Sitting in his recliner watching ballgames with his favorite cat, Jumper was a daily tradition. Music was a passion, whether playing guitar, singing or just listening. He loved all things Ole Miss, especially during football season. Barry was a fun-loving jokester, and his life lived stories will be remembered and retold for years to come, keeping his memory alive.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lindy Shay Daughdrill; sister, Merle Buie; and brothers Henry, Bill, Paul, and Sammy Brister.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Virginia Reed Brister; son, Clifford Barry "BB" Brister Jr. and wife, Amanda; his beloved grandchildren, Gavin, Noah, and Gabriel Brister, and Presley Faith Daughdrill and son-in-law Andy Daughdrill. He is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews and other close family members and friends.
