Carrie Ola Britt Adams passed away peacefully on September 23 ,2010 at her home in Memphis ,Tennessee. She was a daughter of Caroline Walker Britt and Elon Britt . She was born on her father's farm on August 20, 1920 .Mrs. Adams attended Whitworth College and graduated from Copiah-Lincoln .

In her childhood days she developed a life long love of all things outdoors especially plants and flowers . She and her husband , Luther Roy Adams , planted and cared for hundreds of azaleas and camellias at their home on Meadowbrook Drive .
Throughout her life her role as wife , mother , and daughter kept her busy . She had also been associated with W.B. Gregg Company .Mrs. Adams was an active participant in numerous church , neighborhood and community activities .
Following the death of her husband ,Roy,in 2007 she moved to Memphis ,Tennessee , and enjoyed spending time with her family . She resided at Carriage Court Assisted Living Community where she made many dear friends . Her interests in later life included spending time with her great grandchildren and nurturing her flowers and plants .
Mrs. Adams is survived by her daughter ,Laila Adams Eckels; her granddaughter ,Amanda Adams Eckels Goetze ;and two great grandchildren ,Madeline Gwinn Adams Goetze and Richard Harrison Goetze all of Memphis ,Tennessee, and her brother Henry Alcus Britt of San Diego ,California .
Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church on Monday ,September 27 at eleven o'clock . Burial will be private . In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to St . Jude's Children's Hospital and Rhodes College .
