Funeral service for Mrs. Carolyn Virginia Smith will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Brookhaven Funeral Home in Brookhaven, MS at 1:00 PM with burial to follow in New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery in Brookhaven, MS. Brookhaven Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM.

Carolyn Smith, 84, formerly of Wesson, MS passed from this life on Friday, January 18, 2025 at The Arbors Nursing Home in Ridgeland, MS. She was born in Brookhaven, MS on August 30, 1940 to Howell Johnson and Bertie Mae Pennington Johnson. She was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ. Carolyn lived a life of service and had a heart of love for people.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother Charles Johnson and sister Faye Wilson.

Survivors are her husband of 64 years, Lawrence Mitchell Smith; sons Robert Bruce Smith and wife Julie and Donald Brian Smith; brother Donald E. Johnson and wife Margaret. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Jourdan Anne Branning and husband Christian, Jamie Lyn Davis and husband Austin, Elizabeth Grace Smith and Robert H. Smith; nephews Mitchell Penland; niece Brenda Welch; great-grandchildren, Miller, Cade and Anne Helen.
