A celebration of life will be held for Carolyn Applewhite Smith at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Brookhaven Funeral Home with burial to follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will start at 12:30 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM.

Carolyn Applewhite Smith, 85, of Brookhaven, MS passed from this life on October 14, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson, MS. She was born on April 20, 1940, in McCall Creek, MS to Mr. Edward A. Applewhite and Mrs. Nora Smith Applewhite.

She graduated from East Franklin County High School in McCall Creek, MS. She was retired from Stahl Urban/ Auburn Sportswear as a seamstress. She loved sewing for family members and working in her yard. She was a loving and caring daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed any time spent with her family. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in McCall Creek, MS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Nora Applewhite; her husband, Donald Ralph Smith; mother and father-in-law Harvey and Euna Cade Smith; her brothers, Harold Applewhite, Alton Applewhite, Donald Applewhite, and Melvin Applewhite; sisters Edith Dunigan, Hilda Sweeny, Helen Ketteringham, Marinell Applewhite and infant Norma Rae Applewhite.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother Glen Applewhite; sister-in-law Frankie Applewhite and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She was a very special aunt to Glen's children, Glenda Applewhite, Annette Morse, Mary Granger, Shane Applewhite (Lacy), and Stacey Burns and husband Jerry; and special "Meme" to Stacey and Jerry's children, Mitch Cloud (Jennifer), Jeremy Burns, Annah Claire Waltman (Dylan), Jack Landon Burns; and great-great niece Renleigh Annah Waltman due November 4, 2025.
